We discussed internet marketing tips for New York bars a couple weeks ago in our blog post, Social Media Marketing Tips for Bars. This week we’ll take a more in depth look at one of the newest social media platforms, Pinterest.
Getting started. Make sure to feature your business name on your profile for maximum exposure. Add a paragraph about who you are, what you do, and include any relevant links.
Mix it up. Don’t only repin other content- make sure to mix it up by uploading your own original images. Make sure they are all quality images- the more visually appealing, the more pins you will get. Pin a lot, and pin regularly.
What should I pin? Get creative with your pins. Your boards should feature your establishment, but it should also expand beyond that. Are you a local sports bar? Create a board with your local sports team. Have a specialty drink? Describe the ingredients or what makes it so special. Have events weekly? Post pictures of them. Whether your bar is a neighborhood pit stop or a swanky happy hour spot, make sure visitors know the atmosphere and personality right off the bat.
Interact. Pinterest is similar to other sites in that users can comment and “like” pins. Interact with your followers and other boards. Comment on pins you like, and join the discussion. Make sure to add a “Follow me on Pinterest” button to your website to cross-promote. You can also integrate your Pinterest account with Facebook and Twitter, so you post content in both places at once.
Evaluate. You can find out who has been pinning your images at http://pinterest.com/source/yoursitehere. What type of images generated the most repins? You can tack which pins resonate with users to help shape your content strategy.
